    Because your health comes first, second opinions matter.
    ANSWER: Second opinions offer a different perspective on your options. Some doctors are more conservative and others more aggressive. There may be good arguments for different treatments, so getting a second opinion can be a good way to discover all of your options. No doctor can know everything or make the right decision all the time. A second opinion also serves as a general quality check – to make sure you’re really getting the most up-to-date, accurate diagnostic evaluation.

  3. Question: Who carries out the second-opinion analysis?»
    MetisMD, only the best medical minds will do.
    ANSWER: Every one of our radiologists is board-certified and fellowship trained. Each has ten years or more experience, along with expert research and publishing credentials. All MetisMD radiologists are based in the U.S.
  4. Question: Do I need my physician’s permission to obtain a second opinion?»
    ANSWER: No. We simply require you to sign off on our terms of service and agree to show our report to your healthcare provider so that you can understand the findings and any implications they may have.
  5. Question: What should my doctor do?»
    We guide you through the process.
    ANSWER: Your doctor doesn’t need to do anything, but he/she (or you) can help by giving us more information about your medical history. This may include prior radiology reports and/or recent clinical notes. If your doctor has directed you to get a second opinion, please request that he or she fax a “re-read script” to us at (800)-419-6976.

  7. Question: How do I get my images and results to MetisMD?»
    MetisMD makes healthcare convenient.
    ANSWER: Simply upload your scans to our secure PatientConnect portal. Alternatively, you can fax or email your original report and any other imaging reports.   8. Question: My Internet access isn’t the best—what if I have trouble uploading the scan?»
    MetisMD takes the hassles out of healthcare.
    ANSWER: No worries. At MetisMD, we offer you free technical support. We don’t charge for uploading and your credit card is never billed until a service is fully confirmed. We also offer alternative delivery methods. See “How do I get my images and results to MetisMD?” above for more details.

  12. Question: What will my second opinion report include?»
    Accurate, in-depth, and informative—that’s MetisMD.
    ANSWER: Our clear, precise, and accurate reports address your specific concerns. They also provide recommendations when appropriate. If you have additional scans of the same type and anatomic area, we can easily compare your current and previous scans. Using our image quality scoring system, we can tell whether the scan was of sufficient diagnostic quality or needs to be repeated. If we judge that the proper type of scan was not initially performed, we will recommend the type of follow-up study you should receive. Download a sample report.
  13. Question: Can you discuss your findings with me or my doctor?»
    Clear communication is essential in healthcare.
    ANSWER: Our PatientConnect service includes a phone consultation with an expert radiologist. Additionally, we can share our findings with you in real-time by securely sharing our computer screens. Communication with your doctor is important. At your request, we are available to discuss our findings with your physician.
  14. Question: Are MetisMD services covered by insurance?»
    ANSWER: Currently, this is a self-pay service; most health plans do not cover second opinions. However, because second opinions ultimately benefit everyone, there is growing interest in allowing such coverage, so our policies may change. In the meantime, we strive to keep our fees as low as reasonably possible while upholding the highest medical standards.

    ANSWER: Our subspecialty interpretations feature high quality, detailed, well-written reports from the best radiologists in their field of expertise. MetisMD physicians are subspecialists in Neuroradiology, Orthopedic/Musculoskeletal, Body Imaging (ultrasound, MRI, CT, X-ray), Pediatric Radiology, Women’s Imaging (breast and gynecologic imaging), Vascular and Interventional Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine.

    ANSWER: Why wait several weeks for your analysis? Within 24-48 hours of uploading your scan, you will receive a secure link to download your report via email.
  17. Question: How can I check on the status of my scan? »
    MetisMD gives you back control of your healthcare.
    ANSWER: Easy! Just email us at info@metismd.com, and we’ll reply with a status update and answer any other questions that you may have.  Alternatively, feel free to call us anytime if you have any additional questions or concerns.
  18. Question: Suppose I don’t understand the results of the second opinion. Can I speak directly with a qualified medical expert? »

    ANSWER: Of course! MetisMD offers you the opportunity to have a one-on-one dialogue with the radiologist or his or her designate. All of our medical personnel are committed to delivering clear and accurate information, so we will offer you our evidence-based assessment. Because we do not have access to your complete medical profile, we do advise you to consult with your own physician afterward for possible treatment recommendations or other advice.
